It's been great seeing my hubby so much lately. He has had a couple of days off so we have been watching movies. We have caught a lot of double features. Here are my reviews. See it or Skip it.
Revolutionary Road - Skip it. Too depressing and the story didn't explain how this couple got to the state they started the movie in so you don't really find yourself caring for either character. The only highlight was the crazy son of the Wheeler's friends.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - See it. Although I thought it was too much like Forrest Gump with Forrest Gump being the better version some of the camera moves and special effects are worth every penny. I have no idea how they made Brad Pitt look so old and so young so convincingly.
Grand Torino - Definately see it! There is a rumor that this is Clint Eastwood's last film and for that alone you should see this legend's film. But the second reason is that it's a great film. Some classic Eastwood moments. If this is his last film then he is going out great.
Bedtime Stories - See it. I thought this was going to suck but i actually enjoyed it for the popcorn movie that it is. Don't go in expecting much and you will find a fun, laughable movie that will entertain you for the afternoon.
The Tale of Despereaux - Skip it. I am a sucker for kids movies and decided to give it a whirl. It majorly ripped off a bunch of movies and Sigorney Weaver's voice over was so annoying it took me out of the movie every other minute. This could have been good but instead it was just another piece rushed animation to make a buck.
Valkryie - See it but barely. We all know what happens at the end which kinda ruins the suspense portion of the film but I feel it's important to see this story and remember how not all German's were Nazis during WWII. It was a good story, that was well made (filmwise) but it was executed totally wrong and with the wrong star. Sorry Tom Cruise it's just really hard to picture you as a Nazi.
Australia - See it. I am sorry this movie made such a poor showing at the box office. Looks like it will only make $50M. I loved this movie. Loved how it was shot and loved the old timeyness of the movie. I loved Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. If you like sweeping epics with romance and action then you will like this. I am afraid though this won't get the credit it deserves until the DVD comes out.

Marley & Me *although in your current battle with your neighborly pooch, this might be a victim of timing. But I highly recommend it. (also, FYI, it's not a "kids movie")
also get an honorable mention for:
Slumdog Millionaire. (but i think you already reviewed it)
last but not least....kelly, you should check out "the Wrestler"..
Happy New Year,
