Back to the Beach

So for my 33rd birthday I wanted to keep it low key, meaning, just me and my honey. So the hub took me to the beach! I haven't been to a California beach, in like, forever! We packed a picnic lunch and rubbed 50 SPF suntan lotion all over ourselves (we learned from Vegas) and headed to the shores. Boy! Was it ever nice to sleep with the sounds of the ocean nearby! Besides sleeping, Brian prepared a birthday surprise for me. See below.

Brian's birthday surprise. For my birthday present this year, Brian gave me 5 choices. I had 5 envelopes to open at the beach. Each envelope came with a mini gift, either a pair of sunglasses (because I really wanted sunglasses as my only pair broke last week) or a lottery scratcher.

After opening all 5 envelopes, I had the choice of picking from 5 really great gifts!! 1.) A year long membership to Burke Williams Spa (nice) 2.) A flat screen TV for our bedroom (been wanting to watch TV in bed)
3.) Maid services for a year (this would be so cool) 4.) A new mattress for my poor tired back (hello posterpedic!) 5.) And new outdoor furniture.

Can't I have all 5 I asked my hubby? While I could have gone for any gift, I really, really thought the new matress would help both me and my hubby sleep better so I went with that.

Birthday girl me! Enjoying the outdoor table at Geoffrey's in Malibu!

My hub, Brian, enjoying his New York Strip! It's was yummy!

You should talk to me about getting TV in your bedroom since I have all the deals. I would say wait til Black Friday for a bedroom TV. Let me know if I can help.
Thanks Vanessa!! We are so excited for the matress for several reasons. Wink! Wink! It comes this Friday. I so can't wait.

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

My Favorite Gourmet Trucks

As of last night, I have now tried 18 food trucks! Only 60 more to go! My friends, Krueger and Kristy joined me at 55 Degree Wine in Atwar Village to try the always busy Grilled Cheese Truck! I have run into the truck a few times now but something has always prevented me from trying their food. Mostly the really, really long lines!! This time the hour wait wasn't so bad with two girls to gossip with. By the time we got to the front we were ready to execute our food plan. Kristy took lead and placed an order for 3 sandwiches (the brie, the mac-n-cheese and the rib meat) plus the dessert sandwich and some tator tots!!! I was a bit bummed that they didn't have the sandwich I went for, the Harvest sandwich but the 3 sandwiches we got more than made up for everything. I was glad to try this truck with 2 girls because we split the sandiches in 3rds which was awesome because I got to try a variety of their sandwiches. Now I must add the Grilled Cheese Truck to my list of fa...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...
