What to Say?

Lately it seems it's been an effort to jot down a few words. I am not sure what I am about to jot down right now. So let's see what will come out. Let's see what has been going on with me and the hub?

I was hoping to sleep in a bit more today but alas, the barking dogs have got me on a schedule and I awoke darn early today. The funny thing was they didn't bark this morning. I think on the weekends the owner keeps them inside. Must be the owner has to go to work and leaves the dogs outside on the weekdays. I am still trying to piece it all together. This weekend I hope to write a note to a few of the people who live behind me. I find sometimes people don't know they are doing anything bothersome until you tell them. I am hoping this approach works.

Last weekend we caught up with our pals, Charlie and Krugs and their gang of friends from two TV shows they used to work on, Ellen/Christopher Lowell. It was cool catching up with everyone. Charlie flew into town from Seattle for a couple of days. Seems he is writing a pilot with Kevin, who recently was filming a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio overseas. Charlie told us a funny story about Kevin playing video games with Leonardo. Kevin beat Leonardo and shouted "I'm the King of the World!" Good thing Leonardo took it well or Kevin might not be working in film anymore! Charlie has been producing a film up in Seattle and it is almost finished. Can't wait to see it! He sent out a trailer a while back and it was cool. I am in awe of Charlie. Ever since I've known him he has wanted to be a filmmaker and get into the movies. He actually gets out there and does stuff. It's great to see someone go for it. Someday folks, we're all going to make it big! I am not sure if I want to make it big running a studio or make it big owning a internet business and selling my goods via the internet from the beaches of Hawaii. I am still debating.

Speaking of internet businesses. I thought of my million dollar idea yesterday. I'd tell you but it's my idea and it's going to get me to Hawaii. While I flush it out though I have been thinking about buying stocks. Do you people know much about the Stock Market? Anyhoo, I have been tracking a few stocks and doing a bit of investigating/research. I feel like something inside me is telling me to buy. I have a couple of company's I am looking at. The Stock Market seems to have gone down and is slightly rebounding so the time for me to act is now. My brother always says buy low. To me, it's like a sale right now. I have an account so maybe Monday I'll take a chance with a small purchase on a tip I got on Friday and see how it goes. Can't get to Hawaii if I don't take a risk somewhere, right?

Speaking of Hawaii, my parents just went. They interrupted their normal cruise going vacation and took off to Oahu. Apparently they had a blast. My brother and his wife just got back from Mexico to see one of Kate's sisters get married. Fay-Fay and Mo-Mo just came back from Florida. Then our delivery guy at work just came back from Oahu too. I am really so jealous of these vacationing people! I so want to go on vacation! I am hoping to get 90 lb Girl after his current job ends. I am just aching to go to Hawaii. Hoping to visit Kauai or the Big Island. I have to get the Big Island scoop from my friend Becky who went there after my wedding with her hubby. Haven't been able to get a hold of her to tell me the scoop though. She is getting transfered from Omaha to North Carolina. She is a brilliant geneticist and now that her post doc is over she is moving on to the next research gig. I never got to visit her in Omaha but I need to get out to see her at the new place.

My brother called yesterday but I didn't get to talk much, cuz he calls me after he gets out of work but for me, I am still in work. Seems like someone is trying to serve him with some papers. His neighbor called him at work and said that he had gotten served and so had all the other neighbors. When my brother got home he noticed that there were tracks all around his house and someone had been looking in the windows. Apparently something to do with the developers of this neighborhood. He was supposed to go look at the neighbors papers when he got home. He was determined not to get served. Just don't answer your door or respond to your name! I will have to call and see how that goes for him.

He also told me that he and Kate are looking to come out an visit us in late July, they want to drive up the coast all the way to Seattle! They want to stop in and see 90 lbs Girl's parents and visit the bed and breakfast and make a pit stop at Chuck Wagon.

Well no more to say so off to start my day. Have a good weekend everyone!

Buffalo Wild Wings

When I was going to Michigan State University, my friends and I would always go to BW3's for hot wings. They always had a variety of flavored wings from Honey BBQ to steaming hot, hot, death wings. Wings and a beer were just the thing to satisfy a busy student's appetite. When we frequented BW3's it was a dive bar but by the time my brother graduated from MSU they swapped locations for a building across the street and turned the name to Buffalo Wild Wings and the restaurant became more like a chain thing. Well, color me shocked the other day when we went to the movies and I saw a Buffalo Wild Wings being built in the AMC Burbank 16 complex. Apparently, after looking on their website they are one of the fastest top 10 chains in the US. So of course I had to introduce the hubby to one of my favorite college treats. I don't think he is so much a fan of chicken wings so we got boneless chicken wings a.k.a. tasty little chicken chunks in two of the flavored sauc...

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

The Lost Art of Letter Writing

This week I was the recepient of two postcards. In the age of e-mailing and blogging this is a rare occurrrance. It's not that people don't write anymore it's just they are doing it in different forms and I think in less personal forms. It's kinda sad when you think about it. For me, there is nothing better then getting a hand written letter in the mail because it means someone was specifically thinking about you. Writing a letter these days takes a lot of effort when GMail is so near. I mean a person has to pick out stationary (if they even have any on hand), find time to sit down and compose a letter (and who has a spare half hour these days?), find or buy a stamp and actually walk the letter to the mailbox. With all this effort, no wonder people email these days! My girlfriend Becky and I joke that the United States Postal Service has become "Snail Mail." Most times before a letter gets to us these days we already know the information inside ...
