Two Birthdays

My sista-in-law, Holli's big day is Wednesday and my dear, father, Rich's is on Turkey Day on Thursday.

Brian and I are heading to Sanger sometime in the wee hours of Thursday morning. Not sure when the hubby will get off of work. All depends on if the day shift guys will leave early so Brian can go in and finish up before his normal 6AM finish time. The Sanger folks might need to prop our heads up at the dinner table cuz either Brian or I will be tired (if we leave at Midnight I will sleep in the car and if we leave at 6am Brian will sleep in the car).

I got my big pants ready and I can't wait to eat all of my Sanger meals. In preparation for the various family feasts, Brian and I baked and baked and baked yesterday. Thank you to all the people who contributed to our wedding loot and gave us the most amazing and totally awesome bake ware. I must say that kitchen mixer is a little piece of heaven. I am definitely using that puppy over and over again.

We made 1 gigantic pumpkin pie that was supposed to be two pies. That one has Jamaican Rum in it and two strawberry-rhubarb pies. My Brian loves his pies and when I told him about the strawberry-rhubarb pies I'd get back in Michigan he asked me to make one. So Sunday we set out to buy rhubarb and the only place that had it was Whole Foods. For those of you who don't know what rhubarb looks like, it's like a red celery stick. We got 4 sticks and were amazed to find it cost $18.00. That is like $4.50 a stick!!! Can you believe that???!!!oxo!!! I was already 2 quarts of strawberries in so I was forced to buy the rhubarb!! Anyhoo, I guess you can get anything you want but you just have to pay for it. Those Sanger folks better like our freaking expensive pies or politely ignore me at dinner. hehehe!

Anyway, this weekend was spent cleaning up our garage. When we moved in we just dumped everything in the garage. Now you can actually find stuff and maneuver around the area. It's sooooo nice! When we were done with baking-a-polooza yesterday we ended up making a pizza pie for dinner. It's the food network at the Buller house.

Happy Turkey Day everyone and safe travels!

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....
