My Hub, the Personal Shopper

So yesterday afternoon, after a WiiFit workout :) the hub and I headed to the Target in the Glendale Galleria to pick up a few things for my trip this week. We ended up walking around the entire mall and landing in a Banana Republic. Most people who know me, know that I don't really dress up much. Work is pretty casual so there isn't really a need for me to wear really nice things. Which is cool because I am lazy when it comes to clothes and make-up. I really want to be one of those "Sex In The City" ladies but I wouldn't dare spend hundreds of dollars on clothes unless it was a special treat.

The clothes I wear tend to be comfortable looking and I tend to wear them over an over until they wear out. I think the one thing I am known to wear are white tank tops. Heck, it doesn't even have to be white! I wear tank tops in a million colors cuz I love them! Anyhoo, since the marriage I have ummm..... put on a little weight. Ate too many cheeseburgers and fries. According to WiiFit, I am normal for my height but according to LA and me, I am pudgy. I don't think I look horrible but rather, I just want to feel a little better and be able to show myself at the beach without someone saying "Look at the beach whale!" Another reason I want to get fit is that in the last month I have had two people reference my "baby"... asking "WhenI are you due?" Can you say embarassing? When you have two people ask you when you are due, you know you need to start running on the treadmill.

The last thing I thought I'd be doing yesterday afternoon was buying clothes but alas, nothing but crappy clothes fit me right now and I can't go overseas to a big convention and wear crap! So a quick peek into Banana Republic turned into a long stay. They were having a big sale which was very good for my ever expanding buttocks. I wasn't really in the mood to shop so I told the hub to go pick me out something that would look nice. So he went around the store and brought me back a handful of items. At the same time a sales lady took an interest in me. She started bringing me clothes too. For about 30 minutes, I was having a Julia Roberts, "Pretty Woman" moment. It ended when I looked in the mirror for a rear view and saw a "pretty" large bum! I must say, that although, I didn't feel comfortable with myself in the mirror, it was nice shopping for nice clothes to cover up the uncomfortableness.

Things I learned shopping:

1. If you can get a sales lady on your side, you can find cheap stuff that fits. Also, they know about upcoming sales so you can save more money and they find clothes you swear weren't on the rack. Best of all, if it doesn't fit they go and find you another size. Normally, I am scared to talk to strangers and shy away. Now I am totally about talking it up with sales lady.

2. Listen to my hubby - Turns out he has good taste (3 out of the 4 items I purchased were picked out by him). I think his point was that I should shop for stuff I don't normally wear all the time - that I should broaden my horizons.

3. Shop when they have a sale. Got $90 jeans for $15 bucks. I didn't mind buying "fat" jeans since they looked nice on me and they were cheap.

4. Nice clothes make you feel good about yourself even if you are not at your desired weight.

5. I should check out Banana Republic more often and try to dress nicer for work.

6. The hub needs to go shopping with me more often. I wonder how good he is at picking out shoes?

Random Thoughts as the Weekend Closes

Today I got a friend request from my mother-in-law. Will she embrace the FaceBook? We wait and see. Technology is cool...I got to speak to my friend in Hong Kong today. The BlindSide is a really heartwarming and good movie. I didn't know what to expect. I saw Sandra in blond hair and I thought cheesy. Now I can't decide whether I want her or Meryl to win the Oscar. Cats are really nice creatures. I haven't really had much exposure to one before. I especially like the fact that you can hold them like babies. I wonder if I stole Mr. Chuckles if anyone would notice? hum. Bartenders blowing fire makes for an interesting drink at the bar. Plantains are better when they come with your meal and not as an appetizer. I met a man who wanted to see Leap Year. Krueger continues to take jobs that suck ass and take up her precious time. Sorry CougarTown screwed ur day up Krugs. We missed u at the movies today. Ever since I got Mo I have meet the most interesting people ...

Behind Door Number One

Have you ever watched those TV Game shows where they have a couple of doors and behind one is a grand prize? Well, this weekend the hub and I found out what was behind our Door #1. The hubby and I are starting the beginning phases of landscaping our backyard. Our first step, was to clean out the area behind our garage. When we moved in, there was about 2 feet of walking space behind our garage the rest of the area was covered in vines. Vines were growing on the roof and generally it was a mess. Not wanting the vines to take over the roof, we I started to clear out the vines last fall. But after we cut a million vines with only a pair of clippers we gave up and decided to clean out the rest in the spring. Spring came around and we didn't do much until one day when I was sick a few weeks ago, I ran into our gardener. I showed him the mess and asked if he knew of anyone who could come clean it out. I could tell he was actually, quite happy for me to broach the subject of ...

Time Is Flying

Man, back in September and October, I thought time was going by so slowly but now that we are in November and half way through it, it seems like time is flying once again. Maybe that has a little bit to do with me being a lady of leisure these days. My doctor put me on bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy. I went into his office all stressed out over the situation at work in early November and he said "this Friday, November 4th, will be your last day." I was like "Excuse me?" Doc put me on disability because stress is bad for the gestational diabetes I already have and for the apparent high blood pressure reading I had that day and some of my tests indicated I was at risk for pre-eclampsia. My new job, is to go to the hospital for neonatal stress tests, twice a week, on Monday's and Thursday's with a weekly OBGYN appointment on Thursday's after my hospital appointment. Throw in some eye doctor appointments with an eye specialist (apparen...
