Good Bye Maui! Mahalo!

We had an incredible time in Maui! It truly is one of hub and I's favorite places. We could tell that Penny loved it too. We were only able to grab some breakfast at the hotel before having to leave for the airport for the long journey home. Even though its only a 5 hour flight it took all day to get home. We left at 10am and didn't get home in our beds tip after midnight! Before turning in our rental car we did pick up some tasty sandwiches for the flight home at Leoda's and I think that will become a tradition cuz, man, those sandwiches were really tasty! It was nice to get home and see our best pal friend, Moses! We had a big love fest. There were lots of hugs and kisses for Moses. Maybe someday Maui won't have a horrible quarantine rule that pretty much excludes taking your dog on vacation with you. We'll hope.

Happy 39th Birthday To Me!

From now on, I should always spend my birthday in Hawaii because it's just awesome to be in Hawaii on your birthday! I woke up the morning of my 39th year of birth and we meet our friends, The LaScala's at Sloppy Cakes for birthday breakfast. We also ran into some of Dan's (the grooms)family. I had marked it as a place to visit but had delegated it to a maybe list. It wasn't looking like we would make it there but the LaScala's suggested it as a place to meet up to celebrate my birthday. I am really glad I went because the food was delicious! We later found out, that everyone who was there for Bree's Wedding tried and loved Slappy Cakes. It must have been the lemon curd sauce! Hum? ...Basically, the theme of this restaurant is pancakes. You can either make them on a griddle at your table or you can have the kitchen make them. We elected to have the kitchen make ours and we made the right decision. Hubs and I decided to share two orders of pancakes. So we ...

I'ao Valley & Pie

Today we ventured out of Lahaina not quite sure where we were going. We thought we would go to see the crater but when Waze said it would take 3 hours to get get to we ditched that plan. We drove around aimlessly but then we realized we were near I'ao Valley, a placed I had booked marked as cool to go to. I really didn't we would have time to visit but since we were in the area we decided to check it out. It turned out to be really awesome and the perfect activity to fill the time slot we had for this morning. With beautiful views and fun dips in a creek it's a perfect spot to spend an hour or two. The first thing we did was climb the steps to the top. We were rewarded with this pretty view. After looking around and taking a few pictures we started to wander around other pathways. We found a pathway that was along a creek. We found a few places that you could get in an swim. Of course, Penny wanted to go in so Dad helped her amongst the rocks but she soon found o...

The Rest of Our Wednesday

After spending the morning at an animal farm, we drove a few miles to our friend's Dave and Rona's beach front house in Lahaina. They were hosting a picnic lunch for the Bride and the Groom and all of the guests of the wedding. Penny's friend's Liliah and Dominic were there along with Gabriel and a few other kids, so to say that Penny had fun was an understatement. Actually, all of us had a good time in the ocean and playing on the beach. It was a really nice afternoon. Hubs and I forgot to put suntan lotion on our backs and we were burned to crisp. More hubby than I. You'd think living in California we'd know better but we don't. After an afternoon of fun we need some food so Hubs, Penny, and I head to Star Noodle to check out their food. Another Yelp finding, the place was practical empty when we showed up at 4pm but hopping by the time we left. We had noodles, salmon, salad, wontons, and donuts. Everything just hit the spot after a long time ...

Can't Wait!

My friend, Verona's daughter, Brianne is getting married at The Olowalu Plantation in Maui this summer and we are going. Guess who made the suggestion to them? Yep, me! I am so excited for her wedding on August 1st. It's kind of cool that I will get to experience a wedding at the same venue as my own but to experience it as a guest aka no pressure. Plus, I get to take my daughter to the place where her mommy and daddy married which I am excited about. Bree's wedding celebrations kicked off this past Saturday at the San Gabriel Country Club where her Bridal Shower took place. I got to meet Bree's friend's and visit with other guests that I have met since being introduced to her family.
