The Facts of Life

You take the good, you take the bad,
you take them both and there you have
The Facts of Life, the Facts of Life.

When I was in the car driving to work the other day I was listening to an interview with Madonna on the radio. The Material Girl said something that made me think. She said she didn't think there was evil in the world. The way she saw it the bad things in life make way for good things or lessons learned. In a way, this made sense to me. Looking at my life, good has come out of bad things. I think in a weird way having gone through bad things makes you appreciate the good things.

In the breaking his foot last week I was like "Crap, I have to take him to work and pick him up everyday?" But I am finding I like taking him to work in the morning because I get to spend more time with him. The car ride is fun and in the morning it really only adds on 10 minutes to my commute and I get to take a new route to work that actually moves and doesn't involve sitting on the 2 trying to merge on Alvarado. Plus, I think we are doing the environment good by only taking 1 car.

I also don't mind picking him up after work because it forces me to leave work at 6pm and thus relieves my stress level a bit (although the car ride to pick him up is not so nice as the morning one). By taking him to work it has also forced me take my lunch to work because he always took his lunch. So when you make one lunch why not make another for yourself? By eating a handmade lunch I am less stressed that I am eating something bad from the commissary and thus gaining weight.

In breaking his foot, it has forced me to go to the gym to work out at lunch. I had already decided to join the studio's gym at the start of May but with the hub breaking his foot it forced me to have only one option to go, during lunch. By going to the gym it gets me out of the office for a much needed break and getting good exercise at the same time. I am not sure how the hub's life is working out with his broken foot but his bad thing has now turned my life into something good. Hopefully, I will have this new routine down and it will become the new norm.

With all the good things that you get, you may want to consider breaking his other foot.

Vaccine Part 1

As a little girl I would look on my mom’s arm and wonder why she had such a weird mark near her shoulder. A few days ago, as the warm solution penetrated my bloodstream, I started to cry remembering my mom’s mark. The nurse asked me if I was okay and I told her I was so incredibly happy. As a diabetic I was stressed never knowing if I was doing enough to avoid it but also, keeping some semblance of life in doing outdoor things. I cried because I am incredibly grateful to the SCIENCE that made this possible in only a year. Less time for me to worry about my only kiddo should the worse happen.  If ur on the fence...I’ve worked in entertainment for over 20 years and I’ve seen first hand how easy celebrities influence the public.  Some do good and others well...I’m happy to have a little bit of the gracious Dolly Parton with me.  Scientists on the other hand, very rarely get the recognition for their years of study, years of research and expertise contributing to (wo)mankind....

Surfing Goat Diary

We left the store and headed to the Surfing Goat Diary, again, this was a second trip for us but what was different this time is that we scheduled an hour long tour. Last time we arrive right before closing and were rushed. We spent a fair amount of time there exploring before the tour. We tried their cheesecake, we met the cats and dogs that roamed the place, we played in the playground, we pet and fed the baby goats that were penned up, and pursued the little store. Penny was eager to get her hands on the chocolate goat milk truffles. I must admit they did look good. I had my eyes on a t-shirt and a mug. Our tour started at 3:30pm that day and we met all the goats and learned all about the farm. But the most exciting part of the tour was getting the opportunity to milk the goats. Penny was quite a good milker. A friend later reminded me that Penny was breastfed (wink, wink). By the time the tour ended we were extremely hot. Maui was hot but also humid. We were ready to...

How Was Your Weekend?

Does a Monday morning ever go by without someone asking you how your weekend was? I got to work and was bombarded with the question and this week I didn't have a thing to say. Didn't feel good the whole weekend so we did nothing except managed to go grocery shopping, make a trip to Target and watch several epsiodes of Quantum Leap and Battlestar Gallactica. I found that when you don't have anything to say it's good to have at least a change in your appearance to deflect the pitty looks for not having done anything on your weekend. Luckily, I had a new hair cut and color job so I was able to skip the fact that I didn't have any exciting plans to report. Last week I awoke with that I can't this hair anymore attitude and booked an appointment. I went back to bright blonde as opposed to darker blonde with brown streaks I had for the wedding. It was refreshing to go get your hair done after spending the weekend in pain. Luckily for me, the new hair color must hav...
